Video: Predicting the future of the ocean

The Office for Climate Education (OCE) in partnership with CNES developed a series of five videos that explain how the SWOT satellite works and how it can be used to understand climate change.

In this fifth video, Ergane Fouchet (Mercator Ocean International) explains how satellite data is transforming our ability to forecast the ocean of tomorrow. Thanks to SWOT’s high resolution and 2-dimensional mapping, we can have more accurate ocean forecasts for human activities and, in the longer run, adapt to climate change.
