The 16th edition of the International Workshop on Modeling the Ocean (IWMO 2026) concluded with the presentation of the Outstanding Young Scientist Awards (OYSA). The first prize was awarded to Jen-Ping Peng, a postdoctoral researcher at the Mediterranean Institute for Advanced Studies (IMEDEA, UIB-CSIC), for his work entitled “Integration of SWOT and In Situ Observations into a High-Resolution Data Assimilation Ocean Model for the 3D Representation of a Small-Scale Intrathermocline Eddy.”
Organized with the support of the Mediterranean Institute for Advanced Studies (IMEDEA, CSIC-UIB), the symposium was held from 2 to 5 June at the Port Center of the Port Authority and brought together 61 researchers and observational scientists from 14 countries. The previous edition took place in Stanford, California.
