The next “Early Careers’ SWOT LEGOS Days” will take place on April 13-15, 2026 at Observatoire Midi Pyrénées in Toulouse, France. About 30 early career scientists from all over France are expected to participate and present their results ranging from oceanography to hydrology. These discussions will provide feedback on the different SWOT product versions, tools and methodologies, and constitute a valuable source of information for spatial agencies (CNES/NASA) for future products and altimetry mission development.
Since 2025, LEGOS (Laboratory of Space Geophysical and Oceanographic Studies) organizes yearly informal meetings to promote scientific discussion on ongoing SWOT ocean/coastal/hydrology/cryosphere projects carried on in different French laboratories. Leveraging on its leading role in the satellite altimetry community, the SNO CTOH (Centre de Topographie des Océans et de l’Hydrosphère) actively participates in organizing these meetings, convened for 1 to 2 days at LEGOS in Toulouse (France) and supported by CNES. They are specifically held for early career scientists (PhD students, postdocs, early career engineers).
The main objective of these meetings is to bring together the new generation of SWOT-related scientists in order to foster scientific discussion, exchange and promote French expertize in exploiting various SWOT-derived products in the fields of oceanography and hydrology. These meetings also represent a valuable opportunity for SNO CTOH to collect user feedback on SWOT products ensuring an optimal quality and evolution of SWOT datasets.In particular, these discussions provide feedback on the different product versions, tools and methodologies, and constitute a valuable source of information for spacel agencies (CNES/NASA) for future products and altimetry mission development.
