The Office for Climate Education (OCE) in partnership with CNES developed a series of five videos that explain how the SWOT satellite works and how it can be used to understand climate change.
In this third video, Lucie Caubet (PhD student at the University of Toulouse / CNES / LEGOS) explores the dynamic and complex environments where rivers encounter the ocean. Before reaching the ocean, rivers face surprising forces: tides, salt water, and storms. For the first time, the SWOT mission reveals these intricate zones with unprecedented detail, helping scientists understand fragile ecosystems, predict coastal floods, and better prepare for a changing climate.
