The Office for Climate Education (OCE) in partnership with CNES developed a series of five videos that explain how the SWOT satellite works and how it can be used to understand climate change.
In this fourth video, Md Saiful Islam (University of Rouen Normandy / CNES / M2C) takes us above the dynamic zone where the open ocean meets coastlines. Waves transform as they travel from the deep sea to the shore, constantly reshaping coastlines, triggering erosion, and threatening coastal communities. For the first time, the innovative SWOT mission allows scientists to monitor these critical changes from space with unprecedented precision, providing vital data to protect vulnerable shores.
